Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation
Preparedness and mitigation activities are geared towards preparing the communities before a disaster strikes so that its effects are lessened. Activities launched to achieve such preparedness include:
- Trainings
- Disaster response machinery (DRM) formation
- Socio-economic support Services
- Disaster Management Training
Emergency Response
It includes activities implemented during disaster or immediately after it strikes to save lives and properties and minimize or stop the deterioration of the condition of the survivors. Specific activities include:
- Disaster monitoring
- DNCA (Disaster Needs Capacity Assessment)
- Relief delivery operation
Rehabilitation
During the post-disaster phase, the LCDE implements rehabilitation projects to help the victims recover from the disaster. These projects include the distribution of core shelter materials, installation of water pumps, provision of farm tools and animals, etc. The agency also extends financial assistance to the victims.
Community-based Health Program
Activities under the health program include the training and development of community health workers, medical mission, herbal medicine and soap making, education on basic health care and others.
Advocacy
Advocacy work aims to raise the awareness of both the vulnerable as well as the less vulnerable sectors on issues related to disasters and development at the local and national levels. Activities launched under the program include data banking, disaster monitoring and documentation.
